2020 Summer Horse Camp Dates:
Please note that previous experience is not required for participation in our camps. Riders will be grouped by experience and comfort level, and lessons will be tailored to each group's specific needs. Camps fill up quickly so please reserve your spot! For safety and effectiveness, we limit the number of participants to ensure a safe instructor to rider ratio and allow for maximum learning opportunities.
The goal for Duke Farm kids camp is for youngsters to safely learn good horsemanship and animal husbandry while having a great time on a family-oriented farm. Activities and programs also teach responsibility, cooperation, courage and self-esteem. New friends, positive values, personal growth, great adventures, and OUTRAGEOUS FUN are the foundations of the Duke Farm experience! This program is designed to provide instruction which will enable all students to gain confidence and precision in working with horses and other animals under a wide range of conditions. This camp focuses on adventures for all ages with emphasis on having a well-rounded and fun camp experience.

Beginners will be introduced to the nature of horses and the means of effectively and safely handling them on the ground and in the saddle.
Intermediate students will improve their practical knowledge and skills around horses and work towards well-balanced and well-controlled riding.
Our camps are designed to be both stand alone and progressive so no matter what your child's experience, she/he will learn new skills and have fun. Your child rider will have the opportunity to learn basic horsemanship and safety, riding skills, equine care, and stable management in a fun and safe environment. We believe in an encouraging and holistic approach to riding, so we offer a number of creative and project-based learning activities as well.
Please send your child prepared for the day; we recommend putting your child's name on all personal items.
~ Close-toed shoes preferably with a smooth sole and small heel. (No flip flops, minimal tread if using hiking boots, sneakers are ok)
~ Pants or leggings for riding. Your child is welcome to change into shorts during camp, but we require long pants or leggings while on horseback to protect legs and promote comfort.
~ Water in a refillable bottle. It is very important for young riders to stay hydrated.
~ Lunch and snacks. Please do not send your child with peanuts or food containing nuts in consideration of others who may have severe allergies. We do have refrigeration in the barn to keep food cool.
~ Sunscreen to protect skin.
~ Personal items your child may need during the day.
~ Cell phones for family contact are ok but we discourage all other electronics; we'll be busy having fun with horses!

We want to cultivate that relationship from the moment you walk in the barn, hence, we focus on comprehensive horsemanship rooted in a deep love of horses. Campers revel in every aspect of equine care. They can be silly, have fun, and form a unique bond with their favorite horse.
Our experienced staff, has over 25 years of experience in coaching, training and riding We offer horseback riding for the Mind, Body & Soul. We provide a safe and nurturing environment for those interested in exploring the healing benefits of riding and building relationships with horses. We focus on teaching new riders an overall understanding of horseback riding in a "Natural Horsemanship" style. We want riders to learn about the gear "tack" they need to ride with as well as have an understanding of how important it is to get your horse to respect you on the ground.
Open Rides - Your horse will already be in the barn tacked and ready to go. Each ride last approximately 1 hour.
Private Lessons - Your horse will be in a paddock where you will have to go get her. This is part of the lesson process. PRICING - 1 HOUR $75.00 per horse lesson 1.5 hours.
Open Rides - We recommend a boot with a heal, jeans and a helmet. $50/hr
